Functions of LINE Division
Line Division mainly deals with wire line communication especially ITU-T matters

  2. Issuing TV and Video Licence and collecting fees.
  3. Issuing Satellite Receiver Licence and collecting fees.
  4. Issuing Licence for establishment of Wide Area Network and providing services.
  5. Studying modern telecommunications technology and advising the respective authorities.
  6. Controlling telecommunications equipments.
Licence Fee

Remark Sr(1), the license fee is for each 3-years term.
            Sr(8), Hotels motels and inns being run with the permission of Myanmar Investment Commission as well as residential houses owned by a foreigner have to pay only in either US $ or in Foreign Exchange Currency (FEC).
Wide Area Network Licence

Any government organization or private company and enterprise that wishes to establish Wide Area Network or provide services on it shall apply for licence, using the application form (Ka Ya-001), from Posts and Telecommunications Department. The application form must include the proposed network configuration. PTD, after careful examination of the application to check whether the proposed network is orderly and is compliant with existing rules and regulations, will submit the application form along with its comments to the Minister's office. The PTD then, with the approval of the Minister, will issue a licence for WAN to the applying party, after receiving the application form (Ka Ya-002) and after collecting licence fee. The end user who has established the computer network outside the country, shall pay annual fee of Kyat 15,000 per site. It shall pay Kyat 1500 as a late fee for an overdue month.WAN licence is valid one year from the date of issue. if a licence is lost or damaged, a duplicate can be applied with Kyat 3,000.

 
Satellite Receiver Licence

Whenever wishes to get Satellite Receiver Licence must apply at the nearest township post-office. The initial licence fee is Kyat 12,00 for each extra TV set. It is, as stated in Order no(1/93),important to receiver with K1,200 for each extra TV set. It is, as stated in Order no (1/93), important to receive from the posts and telecommunications department, permission for ownership of satellite receiver with a fine of 3000 K. It means that the user must either buy a receiver which has duty been granted Licence or apply for a Licence.
